The Office That Started It All

From its founding in Pittsburgh in 1989 by Todd Dominick and William Taylor, Rycon has grown into a national commercial construction firm completing more than $1.26 billion annually across nine offices and multiple market sectors. Today, the Pittsburgh office is led by President Stephen Kosmer and serves as Rycon's corporate headquarters. Based in Robotics Row at 3 Crossings, Rycon is proud to call home a neighborhood that embodies Pittsburgh's transformation from steel-town grit to technology-driven innovation.

This fast-track summer project consisted of selective demo, new ware wash room, upgraded food service equipment, mechanical hoods, MEP system upgrades, fire protection improvements, and new finishes. Rycon’s in-house Craftworks USA fabricated custom casework and millwork.

Wegmans Cranberry Township

This new store includes a stone‑and‑stucco facade with clock tower, full kitchen/BOH systems, and extensive refrigeration. Departments span prepared foods, bakery, produce, dairy, and more. The 13‑acre site requires grading, utilities, retaining wall, 700‑space lot, and landscaping.

Children’s Hospital Heart Institute

This three-story vertical expansion atop an active parking garage expanded the cardiology program. Work included a skywalk, structural reinforcement, chiller install, CICU renovations, and ICRA protocols to maintain operations. Spaces feature cath labs, MRI, recovery bays, and support.

Dick’s Sporting Goods House of Sport Strongsville

A two-level Sears was converted into a House of Sport. Work included demo, structural upgrades, helical piles, elevator pit, stairs, new facade, site work, infrastructure, and finishes. The venue features a turf field and track, rock climbing, batting cage, golf bays, and putting green

Orr’s Jewelers Strip District

This fit-out included a new 1,700 sf mezzanine and upgrades such as structural steel, finishes, storefront glazing, and MEP. The existing laminated wood floor was preserved with a plywood and concrete overlay. Work was coordinated around occupied adjacent spaces.

E-Commerce Distribution Center Grantsville

This new single-story last-mile warehouse features concrete footings, slab, precast walls, and rammed aggregate piers. It includes a canopy, 8 docks, 6 specialty doors, electric systems, and eco-friendly materials. Site work included parking and separate entrances on the on the 15-acre lot.

3 Crossings The Stacks Oxford Relocation

This renovation included new partitions, finishes, ceilings, structural framing, stairs, MEP, and fire alarm upgrades. The space features work zones, offices, mother’s room, conference rooms, reception, and a cafe. Rycon’s in-house Craftworks USA fabricated FSC-certified custom pieces.

The terminal spans 845,000 sf and includes airline operations, ticketing, baggage claim, security, and concessions. A five-level garage offers 4,300 spaces, with additional surface parking for 2,700 vehicles. Rycon also completed a 28,800 sf airline fit-out for 10 carriers.
