Allegheny Health Network Jefferson Hospital Main Penthouse AHU

Project Scope

HVAC Upgrades
The existing 40-year-old main penthouse air handling units (AHUs) were replaced to increase air volumes and static pressures serving the main hospital nursing units/patient rooms. HVAC upgrades included adding a new air cooled chiller to feed AHU’s S-1, S-2, and S-3 along with a new unit to convert the area to negative pressure.
Backup Power
Additional work consisted of new electrical utility service to electrical substation, new emergency generators, and new chillers.
Continuous Operation
Rycon was required to keep the existing system operational during the replacement.
