Seven people in hard hats participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking with shovels in front of a brick building.

Ground has officially broken on the next chapter of a Gastonia landmark. Rycon is serving as general contractor on the redevelopment of the former Citizens National Bank building at 212 West Main Avenue in downtown Gastonia, NC, a property that has stood as part of the community fabric for more than a century.

The multi-phase project will convert the historic structure into 30,000 SF of mixed-use space. Phase 1 focuses on a new vehicular and pedestrian pass-through connecting Main Avenue to the public gathering areas and parking behind the building, along with structural improvements and preservation work that protect the character of the original architecture. Later phases will bring healthcare and wellness offices, a restaurant, and a private business club to the property.

Congratulations to Jim Morasso, the CNB 1920 ownership group, HELT Design – Architecture Interiors, and the project team on reaching this milestone.
