University of Pittsburgh Hillman Library Phase II

Rycon held the general trades contract on this $7.9 million renovation of the library’s 3rd floor to support new programs and services. The scope of work included new finishes, furniture, reconfigurations, mechanical system upgrades, abatement of asbestos fireproofing, new efficient building lighting systems, distribution of power and wireless signal, reconfiguration of shelving units to facilitate compliance with accessibility requirements, and the replacement of all perimeter single-pane windows. The project also consisted of modifications to the 4th floor as necessary for distribution of power and data systems, and for work related to the intercommunicating stair. Rycon self-performed selective demolition, temporary partitions and enclosures, gypsum board assemblies, door, frame, and hardware installation, wall protection installation, and architectural millwork fabrication/installation. The project pursued LEED Silver Certification.
