Rycon held the general trades contract on this LEED Silver renovation of the library’s first and second floors (Ph 3), and third floor (Ph 2). Totaling 84,000 sq. ft., the project consisted of a new west stair tower addition connecting floors one through four, replacing portions of the first floor exterior raised plaza, reconfigurations, mechanical system upgrades, abatement of asbestos fireproofing, new efficient lighting, distribution of power and wireless signal, replacement of perimeter windows, replacement of the first floor occupied roof pave system, new exterior accessible ramp, and a new two-story decorative wood feature wall. The work also included modifications to the third and fourth floor for distribution of power/data systems and work related to the intercommunicating stair. Rycon self-performed selective demolition, temporary partitions and enclosures, gypsum board assemblies, doors/frames/hardware, wall protection, and architectural millwork fabrication/installation.
