Construction was done in two (2) floor-by-floor phases starting with the 11th floor. The spaces hold wet and dry labs, chemical storage, offices, microscope and radioscope rooms, a cold room, and conference areas. Work included abatement, demolition, reconfiguration to create open ballroom-style biological chemistry laboratories to meet current and future requirements, replacement of the existing MEP and fire protection systems per current code and life-safety requirements, programmatic renovations to support modern research, and installation of new, flexible lab casework and equipment. Occupied surrounding areas were tightly protected using floor-to-ceiling partitions to protect against dust, noise, and fumes. Rycon’s in-house Craftworks USA fabricated custom architectural woodwork featured throughout the space including wood veneer wall paneling, benches, and cabinetry.
