This project includes a 81,700 sq. ft. high-bay pre-engineered metal building with an 88’ height and a 19,000 sq. ft. low-bay pre-engineered metal lean structure with a 20’ height. The entire building will be clad in 2.5-inch thick insulated metal wall panels with standing seam metal roof panels.
Classified as F-2 Low-Hazard Factory Industrial, the high-bay building’s function is the final assembly of steel monopile foundations for offshore wind turbines. The partially fabricated monopile rings will be welded together to form a single monopile. The entire building volume will be an open production factory capable of assembling two monopiles simultaneously. The building will also incorporate a 50T overhead crane for movement of large components.
The low-bay portion will house support functions for the factory including 6,300 sq. ft. of business offices, open cubicle workspaces, and conference rooms. This area will be considered a B use.
This project required a private labor agreement (PLA) to ensure work is done by local unions.
In addition to the work above, Rycon is also providing precon services for a second structure and the site work/utility package.
