This 56,000 sf project involved a three-story vertical expansion atop the existing mid-campus parking garage to expand Children’s Hospital’s cardiology program. The scope included construction of a pedestrian bridge/skywalk connecting the new Heart Institute to the existing Children’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Structural reinforcement of both the hospital and garage was required to support the addition and bridge. Work consisted of selective demolition, chiller installation in the central plant, fit-out of the Heart Institute, renovations to the existing CICU, along with comprehensive mechanical and electrical system upgrades. The space features procedural and diagnostic areas, cath labs, MRI, waiting, and conference rooms. All work was completed with strict adherence to ICRA standards and strategic planning to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations.
