Brooke County Judicial Center

Scope

The lowest of nine (9) bidders, Rycon was awarded a single prime contract for the construction of this new 32,300 sq. ft. judicial center. The new facility is a steel column and beam structure with exterior composite masonry walls on concrete foundations. The building is three-stories with a crawl space that lifts it out of the flood plain. The envelope consists of brick, CMU, stone, GFRC, glass, and other composite materials. There are block rated enclosures, interior CMU walls, and standard drywall/stud partitions for interior offices. There is a secure holding cell area and a mechanical core. Site work included all underground utilities, concrete and asphalt paving, and finish grading. The space was designed to include courtrooms and staff offices for the 1st Judicial Circuit, county magistrate, family courts, probation department, and prosecutor’s office. In addition to bringing all court facilities under one roof, the new judicial center provides greater security for officials, jurors, and others involved with the courts.
