The conversion of a 138,000 sq. ft. former five-story retail space (which Rycon also completed) into a six-floor office space was completed on time in only seven months with exceptional quality. The large building, originally constructed in 1924, is located in downtown Pittsburgh’s business district making exterior improvements more difficult due to the high volume of pedestrian and vehiCleveland traffic. Rycon was able to incorporate more than $200,000 in savings into the project. LEED Gold features included reuse of materials/artifacts, improvement of daylighting, energy efficient equipment and 400 tons of debris recycling. A waterless suppression system was utilized at locations holding sensitive IT data and equipment.
Accolade: Received an AIA Interior Architecture Certificate of Merit Award. The Certificate of Merit recognizes an outstanding aspect of a project such as detailing or adaptive reuse.
