Duquesne University partnered with Radnor Property Group to build a new 11-story student housing building consisting of a partial below grade mechanical floor with amenity and residential housing above as well as green roofs. The foundation is a cast-in-place concrete mat slab. The structure is a combination of structural steel and girder beams with hollow core concrete planks. Inclusive of 556 beds within 216 apartments, the multi-bedroom style units has individual bedrooms, one or two baths, common space, and kitchen. The LEED Silver building features bicycle parking, study lounges, fitness area, and courtyards. Rycon strategically planned for challenges including a tight urban site with minimal laydown, coordination with other construction projects in the vicinity, utilizing a tower crane, and panelized exterior walls.
